Volunteers are an integral part of RUFF Rescue of Central Florida, Inc., and we are happy you are considering joining our family.

 

Below are just some of the areas where we could use your help.

 

 

Adoption Events 

 

We bring our dogs to Petsmart in Winter Garden Village every other Saturday (see our Events page for a list of upcoming dates and times). We need help holding our dogs on leashes, taking them for walks, playing with them, and just loving them.

 

We also participate in community events throughout Lake and Orange counties. At these events we usually need to bring a lot of equipment (i.e., pop up tents, tables, folding chairs, signage, items for sale, etc.). We need help transporting these items to the event, setting up & tearing down our booth space, taking care of our dogs during the event, and speaking with visitors.

  

 

Foster Care 

 

Foster homes are always needed to care for the dogs we save from the kill shelters throughout Florida. Please click here to learn more about our Foster Care program and how you can save the life of a dog in need.

 

If you can't foster, perhaps you can help out at one of our current foster homes. They can always use an extra pair of hands to help take care of the dogs staying with them until they find their forever homes - helping at vet appointments, taking the dogs for walks, playing with them in the back yard, giving baths, teaching them basic commands, or just spend some time giving them lots of love.

 

 

Fundraising/Marketing

 

RUFF Rescue is funded entirely on a donations from the community. We can use help spreading the word about the work RUFF Rescue does. Do you have a few hours to approach the businesses in your area about displaying one of our donation boxes, or working with them to hold a small fundraiser for us (i.e., bowling night, dine for the dogs, etc.)?  Perhaps you'd like to organize a food, toy, and supply drive in your community. Supplies for our dogs are always needed, and very much appreciated.

 

There are various grants available to animal rescue organizations. We need someone who can research and apply for grants RUFF Rescue may be eligible for.

 

We hold events throughout the year to raise money to care for our animals, and to educate people about RUFF Rescue, and can use your help soliciting raffle and auction items such as theme park tickets, dinner show tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, etc., that will be used for future fundraising events.

 

We hold two or three yard sales a year, and can use help soliciting items to sell, helping set-up tables the day of the sale, speaking with potential customers, and just helping out wherever needed. Sales are held in either Clermont or Yalaha.
